š Guiding the Seas, Saving Lives: My Journey in SAR
Hello friends, Iām Adel Jrad, and I want to share with you my journey in Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, a path that taught me the importance of vigilance, coordination, and international collaboration.
š¢ Early SAR Missions: Protecting Our Waters
Throughout my career, I had the privilege of working on Mediterranean security operations, focusing on border protection and anti-trafficking efforts. Every mission brought new challenges, investigating maritime incidents, analyzing the causes of ship collisions or sinkings, and ensuring adherence to navigation safety rules. These experiences strengthened my skills in crisis response and decision-making under pressure.
š International Experience: UN Missions & EU Coordination
One of the highlights of my career was serving as Military Assistant to the Force Commander in the UN Mission in Ivory Coast. Here, I coordinated with international teams to ensure SAR readiness and operational efficiency. I also advised the European Union on implementing the Search and Rescue System in Tunisia, bridging multiple stakeholders and helping shape policies that protect countless lives.
š Sharing Knowledge: Training the Next Generation
SAR is not just about operations, itās about education and preparation. Iāve conducted numerous training programs covering navigation safety, international maritime law, and SAR procedures. Whether itās government teams, students, or maritime professionals, sharing knowledge is key to building safer seas.
š An Invitation: Learn, Collaborate, Experience
If you are a student, maritime professional, or international delegation, I welcome you to connect with me. Together, we can explore SAR strategies, exchange knowledge, and experience real-world maritime operations. My goal is to inspire the next generation to protect our seas and save lives, just as Iāve been privileged to do throughout my career.
ā” Lessons from the Sea: Acting Fast in SAR
In SAR, Iāve learned that every second counts. The sea teaches you to stay calm under pressure, assess quickly, and act decisively. Preparation, teamwork, and clear communication are key, because swift, coordinated action can mean the difference between life and loss.
